They also have gym and art there and that was one of my favorite parts about my stay and groups were pretty fun too.

A few specific experiences I went through, if you are not already convinced not to send your loved ones here:

-Under my condition of self-admittance, I was free to go at any time. However, staff repeatedly told me I was to be held there for a minimum of five days (excluding weekends). It took me multiple days before realizing that I was legally free to go whenever I wanted. I brought this up to staff and it was ignored until I demanded to speak to my doctor, which they had been keeping from me, and I had to have an assertive conversation in which I threatened legal action until my doctor coincidentally decided I was MIRACLOUSLY fine for discharge the next morning.

-The first 48 Hours, I was not allowed my prescribed medication. They gave various reasons as to why they couldn’t give it to me. They only were only willing to give me Adavan (spelling?) and sleeping pills. I refused these.

This institution does not care about actively helping its patients as it claims to. It’s all a facade. The place is an adult daycare, at best. There is almost no direct care or attention paid to the patient. Drugs are handed out like candy and patients roam around the hallways like ghosts, most too dependent on the structured schedule and medications to even become aware that they are being drained of their money for an institution that looks to host its visitors as long as possible, without giving liable reasoning, to profit. This place made me incredibly sad. I was crippled financially trying to pay back the place for a three day visit. I can’t even imagine how it must be for those without health insurance once they are dismissed.

Hellhole. Money making scam that preys on the mentally ill and disabled for insurance money. Lucky I was in a state of mind where I could take charge of my situation. 99% of other patients are not as lucky.

Worst place you can possibly stay for mental health, this facility is very unclean, nurses are unhelpful in most cases, overly drugged to the point where your brain is almost fried, THIS PLACE HAVES BED BUGS! like seriously it does, if you don't believe in this review see for yourself which I hope to god you never have to be sent here without consent when you are not in your right mind. BECAUSE I WAS TRANSPORTED TO SUCH A PLACE WITH OUT MY CONSENT, PARENTS AND LOVE ONES DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE IT IS DESCRIBE AS a 1920 asylum AM WARNING YOU ALL WITH CAUTION, NO PRIVACY AT ALL THERE ARE NO DOORS FOR THE BATHROOM KNOWING THAT SOMEONE CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT WHICH IS SAD! so, like I said please please and mean please do not send your loves ones here you might come out worse if you do so!!!!.

Overall I thank Windsor Laurelwood so much for helping me become a better person and saving my life!

Laurelwood Saved my life. Was very serious about recovering from my condition so that helped make my positive Outlook. Great food too. (;

-I was subject to many extremely triggering, violent episodes by other patients. The ward I was in was for schizophrenics and suicidals. Schizophrenic patients would regularly go through terrifying episodes due to lack of care or proper medication. I would have to hide myself in my room and plug my ears as these patients were physically dragged out of our ward, screaming and crying.

I was put in the 2600 Adolescent Unit and I had a pretty good stay. The rooms were pretty cold, food was decent, the staff, nurses, and techs were all very friendly and caring except for one of the techs who was very rude and seemed like she didn’t care about anyone in there.

I felt like a prisoner the entire time I was there. There were no doors on the bathroom, just a flimsy curtain. The food was pretty terrible, the staff wasn’t very nice. Group therapy was a complete joke. We were ushered around like cattle. The only part I liked about being stuck here for a week was the art therapy. I made a jewelry box that I still use to this day. I’ve been to three different psychiatric hospitals and this was BY FAR the worst one ever.

-Same first 48 Hours, I was denied meals. I was told that since my doctor had not met with me, I was not allowed to leave the complex and go to the cafeteria.

-The two previous experiences left me both in withdrawal (from serious psychoactive drugs) and famished. I gave up and curled up in the corner of our common room and just cried for hours. I was full of rage. I felt insane. Staff members came by and shamed me for my behavior, but they also would not let me be in my room.
